Rep. Yogboh attributes Liberia’s crisis to legislature failure.

Monrovia, Liberia – Representative Jerry Kolubah Yogboh of Montserrado County District #12 has launched a vicious attack on his colleagues in the National Legislature, claiming that they have abandoned their oversight responsibilities and betrayed the Liberian people.

Rep. Yogboh stated clearly during a radio interview on KEAR in Monrovia that the Legislature, not the Executive, is the primary source of Liberia’s persistent challenges.

“Let me state clearly, the National Legislature is the nation’s largest problem. Liberia is seriously in danger as a result of our supervisory role’s failure,” he charged.

Lawmakers have come under fire from Yogboh for their focus with district politics rather than carrying out their duties as a nation. He accused the Legislature of being “too lenient” with the Executive branch, leaving ordinary Liberians to suffer the consequences. “The Executive is not being held responsible.”

He cautioned that they are betraying the people who sent there here by being weak and complacent. The member from Montserrado also criticized his colleagues for enacting laws without considering their effects, advocating for mandatory assessments of legislation to gauge its efficacy.

“We are not merely here to sign rubber-stamp legislation and budgets. Being a responsible leader is essential.” He stressed that politicians steer the nation toward ruin when they fail to accept responsibility.”

He emphasized that leaders who avoid accountability steer the nation in the direction of disaster. Rep. Yogboh issued a grave warning that Liberia’s democracy will continue to be in jeopardy unless lawmakers take on the task of true responsibility.
