Monrovia, Liberia – Senator-elect, Bill Twehway of Rivercess County has agreed to be investigated by the Liberian government after months of quietness about his US federal sanctions. Twehway and two other CDC officials were sanctioned by the US government in 2022 for their role in public corruption under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, in accordance with Executive Order # 13818.
Speaking to Journalists at a program organized by the National Elections Commission, to certificate winners of the 2023 general elections in Monrovia, Twehway said he is prepared for investigation at any given time when the Liberian government desires.
The certify senator of Rivercess County contended that the law states that one is considered guilty if they are found guilty by the court, noting that those who call him “corrupt” are actually his adversaries.
It can be recalled that the United States designated Liberian government officials Nathaniel McGill, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Chief of Staff to President George Weah; Sayma Syrenius Cephus, the Solicitor General and Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Liberia; and Bill Twehway, then Managing Director of the National Port Authority.
