Royesville Inducts New Commissioner

Craves Government Full Support

Royesville, Montserrado County – The newly inducted Commissioner of the township of Royesville in Montserrado County, Madam Bindu William has called on the government to provide her leadership the necessary policy guidance and logistical support in order to execute her functions and responsibilities adequately in line with the ARREST Agenda.

Hon. William made the plead to central government through the Ministry of Internal Affairs (NOA) on Friday, August 29, 2025 when she officially took over as Commissioner of the Township of Royesville at a well-attended ceremony.

“Development is a shared responsibility, and I am calling on the central Government, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs to provide the necessary policy guidance and logistical support,” Commissioner William stated.

The third female Commissioner of Royesville proffered reconciliation and peace building in the township, infrastructure development, human capacity development and agriculture as the   four pillars of her administration. Madame William said she will endeavor to foster reconciliation and social cohesion in the township irrespective of social – political, economic and religious backgrounds in order to achieve development in the township.

The newly inducted Commissioner promised to renovate all public schools in Royesville, and construct a public clinic for the township. She said by doing so, a conducive environment for learning and health care will be engendered. Madam William promised to build a police Depot in the township and rehabilitate roads in the area for connectivity and access.

Royesville does not have a police depot. Police matters are taken far as Brewerville or Bomi County. Commissioner William also said investing in the youth and women of Royesville through academic and vocational skill trainings will be a major priority.

“Our first priority is investing in our people particularly our women and youth with special emphasis on girls,” Hon. William said. ” We will work to promote academic education and vocational skills training that empowers our citizens not just to survive, but to thrive,” Commissioner Willam stressed.

Hon. William tapped on the government agriculture program by promising support for farmers through trainings, access to tools, linkages to markets that will ensure that agriculture is not a fallback option, but a foundation for prosperity. She called on the Montserrado Legislative Caucus to advocate for and channel resources to the Township of Royesville. Similarly, she appealed to the office of the Superintendent of Montserrado to support the township quest for development.

Commissioner William also urged development partners of the township including Bao Chico Resource Limited and the African Methodist Episcopal University to stand with the township in its developmental quest.

Hon. Bindu William rallied citizens of Royesville to contribute in every meaningful way in developing and uniting the township. “Let us seize every opportunity. Let’s contribute whatever we can to transform this Township we love and cherish. Let history record that we stood together, worked together and built something worthy,” Commissioner William emphasized.

In remarks, Hon. Samuel Brown, Deputy Minister for Administration Ministry of Internal Affairs commended Commissioner William for her ascendency to the post and urged her to be an Ambassador in the fight against drug abuse. According to Brown, drug usage is destroying Liberia’s youth’s future, and it’s time for everyone to take action.

He also admonished Commissioner William to serve with humility and work with the citizens of Royesville. He also told her to execute her functions in the interest of the Government ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

Also, Mr. D. Emmanuel Williams, who spoke on behalf of Royesvilles Council promised the Council unwavering support to Commissioner Bindu William’s administration. He said the Council stands for development in the township and it will fully support the Commissioner.

The best path to success, according to Mr. Williams, is for parents to take their kids to school. He urged Royesville residents to cooperate in order to help grow the city.

The program was attended were a host of dignitaries including elders, youth, women as well as the farming community of Royesville. Royesville is located in the west of rural Montserado along the Atlantic Ocean, home to President Edwin J. Roye.

In 1921, Liberia’s sixteenth President Charles D.B. King changed it from a Settlement, a name given by the American Colonization Society (ACS) to that of a Township.
