Aggrieved staffers of the Liberian Senate have given the Senate a 24-hour ultimatum to settle their ten months salaries arrears in the tone of over US$34,430 or risk unspecified actions.
The aggrieved worker’s Spokesperson Charles Brown told legislative reporters on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, that the amount which according to him constitutes 16% of their total salaries was allocated in the July to December Special Budget.
He alleged that the Senate leadership headed by Pro-tempore Albert Chie is yet to pay the staffers’ entitlement, as the end of the year draws closer.
The defeated Bomi County Representative Candidate Charles Brown called on the Senate leadership to pay the staffers’ ten months domestic debt owed by the senate. Mr. Brown continued that since the senate paid them eight out of 18 months’ salary arrears, the senate is yet to pay them a dime.
It is established that this is not the first time staffers of the house of elders protest for their salaries.
