Congo Town, Montserrado – Unity Party on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, received two separate endorsements ahead of the November 14, 2023, presidential runoff election. On the first occasion, the Grassroots Development Movement, headed by Edward W. Appleton, stated that the decision to endorse the Unity Party was from the heart of the Grassroots Development Movement.

The GDM political Leader added that the party executive committee members voted unanimously for the Unity Party in their quest to support one of the two in Liberia’s 2023 presidential run-off. He said, in his capacity as a leader who upholds democratic values and equitable participation, he feels bound to grant the people’s will without resistance. He claimed that during the meeting, UP received the support of 70% of the executive committee members.

The Grassroots Development Movement headed by Edward W. Appleton came third place in the October 10, 2023, general elections.

Meanwhile, about two thirds of the All Liberian Party’s (ALP) national executive committee members have pledged support to the Unity Party. The majority of the committee members decided to support the Unity Party, according to the endorsement statement read by Hon. Theodore Momo, National Chairman of the ALL Liberian Party.

In a related development, Gbarpolu County senator elect Amara Konneh, Togar Gayewea Mcintosh and 33 defeated candidates in Bong County vow to rally support for Joseph Boakai and the Unity Party. Amb. Joseph Boakai’s presidential bid was supported by Dr. Togar Gayewea McIntosh, the former head of the Governance Commission, and Amara Konneh, the newly elected senator from Gbarpolu County.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governance Commission former chairman, Dr. Togar Gayewea McIntosh said, Liberia is professionally and Technically Bankrupt under the Leadership of President George Weah. Justice Kabina Ja’neh, Sen. Elect Amara Koneh, Dr. Togar Mccintosh, Lusinee F. Kamara, Sheikh Kouyateh all endorses UP and the Rescue Mission on Monday, November 10, 2023.

On Sunday, November 9, 2023, at the party headquarters, ALCOP Standard Bearer, including some members of the executive committee and significant partisans, endorsed Unity Party Candidate Joe Boakai. Reading the endorsement statement, Edward Gboe stated that they see the need to raise standards for accountability, the rule of law, and fundamental social services, among others.

The endorsement, according to Gboe, who placed second in the Bong County district #2 representative election, affirms the group’s dedication to mobilizing its supporters to support Boakai. It is noted that ALCOP came fourth in the October 10, 2023, presidential election.

The UP Standard Bearer, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, welcomed everyone to the Rescue Train and expressed his eagerness to collaborate with them. He also named Amara Konneh the National Campaign Coordinator with emmidate effect.
