Monrovia, Liberia – More than thirty Liberians received degrees in a variety of fields from the non-profit organization “Shine Vocational Training Institute” (Shivotin) on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Graduates were awarded diplomas in computer, cosmetology, interior design, plumbing, tie and dye, soap science, and general food service at the institution’s inaugural graduation ceremony.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Shivotin Executive Director, Shine Blamo said the first graduation ceremony is a significant event in the institution’s history because it gives them the chance to serve Liberia and its citizens, especially the graduating class.
He said, the program or initiative is a component of SHIVOTIN, which aims to increase communities’ “capacity to achieve the relevant socio-economic change and development.”
“It is a sustainable initiative that aims to address issues that are relevant to sustainability and community progress,” he continued.
The vision barer of Shine Vocational Training Institute clarified that the community still has the ability to effect change in order to create a vibrant country. The institution’s main goal is to provide the community with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to enable it to flourish and become sustainable.
According to Blamo, the institution’s goal is to guarantee change that is dynamic, effective, quantifiable, and long-lasting. According to him, no particular program or activity will define or be the sole factor in our institution’s success.
“The institution’s goal is to ensure that young people have a vibrant career development, which is the responsibility of all Liberians,” Blamo said, adding that “a commitment to ensure the realization is therefore a binding obligation on all Liberians.”
He said, “The SHIVOTIN makes a clear call to everyone to buckle up and engage with the community in this regard.”
He asserts that the government’s negligence is directly reflected in its inability to give mental development top priority, particularly at the community level, which includes both Liberians and tourists.
He pointed out that community mobilization and engagement are crucial, but criticizing the government would not provide much comfort or guarantee that the emotional and vibrant career crises will be mitigated.
“This is a really serious emergency. The necessity of inspiring Liberians and progress partners requires urgent attention. SHIVOTIN is confident in its ability to accomplish the tasks involved in developing the capability of young people. He explained, “We are quite confident of achieving the task, even though it harbors no scruples of the enormity of the task.”
He however, urged communities, local institutions, and international partners to join the campaign and provide the necessary assistance to complete the mission.
