The BBC Focus on Africa has reported that a Sierra Leonean student Jeremiah Thoronka has been awarded USD$100,000 for winning the 2021 Global Student Prize. Jeremiah Thoronka who invented a device that uses kinetic energy from traffic and pedestrians to generate clean power has emerged as winner of the $100,000 global student price after beating 3,500 nominees from 94 countries across the world. It reported that Jeremiah was qualified from the total of 3,500 nominees to a final list of 10 where he went on to win the grand price.
