Monrovia, Liberia – The Sister of Esther at St. Nangbe United Methodist Church in Sinkor has celebrated Christmas with the physically challenged members of the church. Sister of Esther is one of the women’s organization subgroups at the church. The women give cooked food, drinks, water, and Christmas gifts to the physically challenged.

Other items included soap, oil, tissues, and other assorted items as part of their Christmas packages for STNUMC’s physically challenged members.

Speaking to our reporter, the head of the group, Mad. Jean D. Hannah-Thompson, said that, as a women’s group, they had planned to gift the items to the group. She noted that the physically challenged are mostly neglected in society. Madam Jean added that it is part of the group’s social responsibility to help the needy in society, not forgetting the physically challenged.

Sister of Esther was founded when the women’s group was established in the STNUMC. STNUMC was founded in 1967 and has since become one of the greatest United Methodist churches in Liberia, especially in Monrovia.

Speaking to the head of the physically challenged at the STNUMC, Bobby F. Nyekan, he thanked the group for the initiative. He noted that as Christmas is near, it is a good thing to share with the less privileged.

He urged other institutions, groups, and the government at large to keep in mind the less fortunate members of society.

The underprivileged and physically challenged constituents, seventy-five members of the STNUMC.
