Supreme Court orders recounts at five voting locations in Bong County’s Electoral District #4.

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – The Supreme Court of Liberia has ordered the National Elections Commission to conduct a recount at five polling locations in the towns of Yowee and Mbellequah in electoral district #4, Bong County.

It is anticipated that the recount procedure will take place at the NEC Upper Bong office in Gbarnga City on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Candidates Quanuquanei Kermue and Susannah Mator challenged the district’s election results, claiming irregularities and electoral fraud. A few weeks later, the high court issued its decision.

According to candidate Kermue, the ruling by the highest court shows that the legal system is ready to administer justice in an unbiased manner and guarantee that the proper procedures are followed. After the parliamentary and presidential elections of 2023, the NEC and High Court have heard numerous cases, of which this is one. The country is now at peace as a result of these cases being handled in the appropriate parties’ benefit.
