A Female Referee at the Liberia Referees Association (LRA) is calling on Liberian coaches to teach their players the rules of the soccer game.

According to Hannah Moses, due to the lack of understanding of the rules of the game most Liberian players are in the constant habit of shifting the blame on referees whenever they lost a game.

She stressed that when players are knowledgeable about the rules; there will be limited complaints from players at the end of every game.

Ms. Hannah noted that due to players not understanding the rules, they are in the constant habit of attacking and threatening Referees after officiating major games.

The Youthful female Referees at the same time encourage Female in Liberia to take advantage of the Liberia Referees Association training activities. According to her, there are lots of benefits for females who are currently training with the Referees Association in Paynesville outside Monrovia.

Commenting further, Ms. Hanna said, since she became a member of the association, she has benefited hugely from the Liberia Referees Association over the years. She said as a female referee, she has participated in lots of CAF activities in Africa among which is her recent visit to Dakar Senegal to officiate a soccer match.

The professional referee noted that with more female involvement in the game, there will be a huge transformation and opportunity for women’s participation in the sector.

She used the occasion to inform the Public that Referees are not only recognized in Liberia but are recognized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation for International Football Association (FIFA)

For his part, the senior referee in Liberia and FIFA badge Hassan Corneh called on his junior colleagues to monster the courage in officiating major games. According to him, though there are some complicated games, they need to officiate every game according to the rules.

He spoke to Journalists at the Liberia Referees Association National headquarters at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville, on Thursday, May 5, 2022,  during the FIFA-ELITE Referees Course training for all Referees in Liberia.
