Monrovia, Liberia – U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joe Zadrozny reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to strengthening and supporting Liberia’s security and justice institutions during high-level meetings with Executive Protection Service Director Sam Gaye and Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman of the Liberia National Police on Monday, August 10.
Zadrozny stressed at the discussions that the US “stands firmly with our Liberian partners” as the nation strives to strengthen law enforcement capabilities, preserve the rule of law, and increase accountability throughout governmental institutions. The U.S. Embassy reports that the discussions focused on continuing initiatives to professionalize Liberia’s security industry and guarantee a legal system that administers justice in a fair and open manner.
According to Zadrozny, a fair and responsible judicial system benefits not only Liberia but also the stability of the region and the strong, long-lasting friendship between our two countries. He pointed out that reliable legal systems and efficient law enforcement are essential for both internal harmony and Liberia’s role in preserving stability throughout West Africa.
The long-standing connection between the United States and Liberia was also highlighted by the Chargé d’Affaires, which promised to increase cooperation on initiatives related to training, institutional capacity building, and public safety. “We look forward to expanding our cooperation on projects that improve the security and prosperity of both countries, and we gladly reaffirm our ongoing engagement with the Liberian government and people,” Zadrozny stated.
Director Gaye and IG Coleman both praised the ongoing U.S. assistance and emphasized the value of foreign collaborations in updating Liberia’s security framework. The meetings come as the Boakai administration prioritizes security sector reform and anti-corruption efforts as central pillars of its governance agenda. As a means to assist programs that promote safety, justice, and economic development, the U.S. Embassy stated that it will keep collaborating closely with Liberian authorities.
