UN Endorses Morocco’s Autonomy Plan

Resolution 2697/2025 Hailed as Major Diplomatic Triumph For King Mohammed VI

Monrovia, Liberia – The United Nations Security Council Friday, November 7, 2025 adopted Resolution 2697/2025, reaffirming support for Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative as the only serious and credible basis for resolving the Sahara question. The decision, according to a release, marks a major diplomatic breakthrough for the Kingdom and a resounding endorsement of the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Also, the resolution reflects growing international consensus around Morocco’s pragmatic and development-based approach to the long-standing regional issue. Observers say the move validates years of patient and consistent diplomacy led by the Moroccan Monarch.

Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, the Sahara region has transformed into a hub of peace, progress, and economic opportunity. Massive investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and education have reshaped the southern provinces into models of inclusive growth.

Diplomatic analysts describe the UN vote as a “historic turning point” in favor of realism and cooperation. It consolidates Morocco’s regional leadership and enhances its standing within the international community. However, the resolution also underscores the UN’s call for continued dialogue and respect for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

With this endorsement, Rabat’s Autonomy Plan moves closer than ever to global acceptance as the foundation for lasting peace and stability.
