PROMISES US GOV’T SUPPORT TO LIBERIA DEVELOPMENT AGENDA
Monrovia, Liberia – According to information from the Executive Mansion, Madam Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America, called President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday, February 26, 2024, to extend her congratulations. Vice President Harris complimented President Boakai during their talk about the orderly democratic handover of power.
Her praise was directed specifically at the Liberian people for their good conduct during the election process, which strengthened the country’s democratic credentials. As the Liberian leader articulated his transformative goal for the nation and emphasized his zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and other types of government wrongdoing, Vice President Harris praised President Boakai for his remarks from both his inaugural address and annual message.
She reiterated the confidence of the United States in Liberia’s efforts to address complex issues and create a strong foundation for both economic growth and national development.
Particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and private sector investment, the US Vice President vowed that her government would support the Boakai-led administration.
Vice President Harris stated that she would be open to hearing President Boakai’s recommendations on what steps the US could take to maintain peace and democracy in Liberia and the South region.
She acknowledged Liberia’s readiness to stand with the US on important international matters, calling it the real core of the exceptional relations that bind the two nations together.
President Boakai expressed his appreciation to the Vice President for her correspondence and praised her resolve to collaborate with his administration. He told Vice President Harris that the nation is in critical need of resuscitation due to serious issues with its infrastructure and economy.
The two nations have had a fruitful bilateral relationship for many years. The United States continues to be Liberia’s traditional friend, offering significant assistance in several areas.
