Ahead of the official celebration of World Menstrual Day, the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia Chief, Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor in consultation with Jewel Star Fish Foundation has donated one and a half cartoons of modern sanitary pads to female students at the William V.S. Tubman High School in Sinkor. The donation was made on Friday May 27, 2022 at the Institution Gymnasium.

Speaking to a cross-section of Female students during the program, the gender consultant in the office of the Vice President, Madam Grace Briamah admonished female students not to be deterred as menstruation issues is every woman concerned.

The program was intended to educate females students about the usage of modern sanitary pads, which has high quality of hygienic materials that can last for longer period. She urged women and girls to take advantage of the modern sanitary pads in the country and stressed that the new sanitary pads can be washed and still be use.

Madam Grace frowns at female students who are in the constant habit of staying away from school whenever they are in their Menstrual period. The gender consultant cautions female Students who are in such arts to desist as no woman has control over menstruation in the world.

She used the occasion to inform the students that the Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor has embarked on a project to establish sanitary pads stations at five Institutions campuses in Montserrado County, this she said is the beginning point of the decentralization process.

Madam Grace named William V.S. Tubman High School, G.W. Gibson High school, Haywood Mission Institute, College of West Africa (CWA) and the Muslim Congress High School as targeted schools for the start of the process.  “These sanitary pads stations when set up, will supply female students with pads while going through the time of menstruation on campus” she narrated.

She maintains that despite the challenges that women undergo during these difficult period they should remain focus in their quest to acquire quality education.  Madam Grace at the same time called on parents at to educate their children at an early age about menstruation because there is no prevention it is a direct mandate from the Almighty God.

May 28, each year is celebrated as World Menstrual Day for all women and girls across the globe.
