“Wait For Your Time” NLA Deputy Director Tells Shining Light Quizzing Teams.

Monrovia, Liberia – Richlue O. Burphy, the National Lottery Authority’s (NLA) Deputy Director General for Lotto Games, has advised school-age children to wait for their turn and refrain from engaging in gambling activities.

Members of the Shining Light National Quizzing Organization were additionally advised by the NLA Deputy Director to emphasize the value of timing and patience in both personal and professional efforts.

Director Burphy, however, took advantage of the opportunity to share his personal experiences, emphasizing how timing can have a big impact on performance. He also encouraged the young quizzers and instilled in them a feeling of resilience and strategic thinking as they get ready for contests in the future.

“In life, as in quizzing, it’s essential to recognize that every opportunity comes with its own timing,” he said at the finals of the recently concluded quizzing competition, which took place at a local church in Paynesville and honored him for his contributions to youth and children development in Liberia.

“Even though you possess the information and abilities, you risk missing your opportunity if you act quickly and without planning. Furthermore, you may no longer find such activities enjoyable when the time comes for you to engage in them. Life is all about timing, so wait for your moment.”

His claim, he said, came after several calls from all around the nation claiming that young kids are increasingly participating in gambling, particularly with those Chinese machines.

He pointed out, “I encouraged all of you to desist if you are part of those children because it will distract you from your studies, lead you to get into adult behaviors before your time and might even end up going wayward and get involved into deviant behavior.”

“You are aware of the regrettable circumstances around it; those Chinese would return to their homeland and live happily with their own children. So, please understand that timing is everything in life and that you won’t be able to enjoy the game of chance when the appropriate moment arrives if you don’t wait for it,” he said.

Additionally, the NLA Deputy Director General urged them to rise to difficulties and gain from failures, saying, “Every quiz is an opportunity to grow. Rather from becoming disheartened by defeats, see them as opportunities to sharpen your abilities.”

“You are our nation’s future leaders, intellectuals, and innovators,” he said in closing, reinforcing his faith in the abilities of Liberian youth. “Remember that patience and persistence are necessary for any significant accomplishment. Your time will come if you remain dedicated.”

Burphy, at the same time, commissioned the quizzers as ambassadors of change against children’s involvement with gambling activities, thus expressing his optimism that they would live up to the creed. He asked them to report every time they saw their colleagues on those Chinese machines playing the games.

Gospellee Livingproof, the leader of the Shining Light National Quizzing Organization, also thanked Burphy for his support and encouragement, calling his remarks “timely.” He added, “Your advice really resonated with us. We often feel the pressure to perform well, but understanding that timing is crucial helps us focus on our preparation rather than just the outcome.”
