Watanga Football Club overturned a 2-0 first leg deficit to win 3-0 to qualify for the 2022/2023 LFA Orange Cup. They lost the first leg 2-0 to the Country oldest football club, Invincible Eleven (IE), but they bounced back in the returned fixture to win 3-0. The match took place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the ATS in Monrovia. Goals from Varney Sando, Prince Kennedy and Abraham Kuyateh were enough as Cooper Sannah boys have a point to prove at the end of the season. Watanga FC will meet LISCR FC in the grand final of the Orange Cup.
In the Orange Cup championship game, Watanga FC will take on LISCR FC. At the cost of Freeport FC, LISCR won a spot in the championship game. They took a 2-1 lead after the first game and settled for a 0-0 tie after that. With three games left, the “Shipping boys” are four points ahead of the National League standings and are going for a double. Shaita Angels defeated Blanco FC 4-1 on aggregate in the women’s Orange division to earn a spot in the first grand final of the tournament.
The Caresburgh-based team beat Ambassadors FC 3-2 on aggregate in the other semifinal, and will now face Determine Girls, who defeated them 2-0 on Wednesday. The defending champions of the match drew 2-2 on Wednesday after winning the first game 1-0 a week prior.
