Watch out for your kids to prevent them from drug use

Says Public Works Minister, Ruth Coker-Collins

The Minister of Public Works is challenging every parent in the country to look after their wards to avoid them from drug addiction.

According to Minister Ruth Coker Collins, the issue of drugs addiction in the country is alarming and needs serious attention from the national government as the number is increasing on a daily basis as such, every home, county, District, and community dwellers are feeling the negative impacts from the disadvantage youths in the country.

Minister Collins mentioned that parents should monitor their children at all times even on their very campuses.

Minister Collins lamented that some addicted youth got involved in these activities from schools and through some companions; She noted that some of those drugs addicted youth are still useful in society as such, there is a need for quick interventions in order to save the future generations.

Minister Collins noted that the government of Liberia is trying to mitigate some of these challenges by finding amicable solutions to the situation by discussing the establishment of a Rehabilitation Center in the country.

She expressed Joy and commanded the government of Liberia for the 13.9 million United States Dollars fund Drive and lamented that the funds when generated, will alleviate the number of drugs addicted youth and will significantly impact the victim capacity building.

The government of Liberia officially launched the National Fund Drive for the Rehabilitation and Empowerment of AT-Risk Youth in the country. The Fund Drive program was held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

The program was held under the theme:” “Reclaiming our Youth for a better Liberia” aimed at generating funds for the construction of a state of an ark modern facility where drugs addicted youth will have the opportunity to acquire technical and vocational training skills.
