WFI To Launch “Feed the Nation” Campaign

To End Hunger and Save Liberian Farmers

Monrovia, Liberia – It is anticipated that a group operating under the name “World Foundation International Multipurpose Agriculture Cooperative” (WFI-MAC) will introduce its flagship national program, “Operation Feed the Nation, Liberia.” This groundbreaking five-year campaign aims to improve food security, empower local farmers, and significantly lessen Liberia’s reliance on food imports.

At a press conference held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at WFI-MAC Headquarters on Capitol Bye-Pass in Monrovia, WFI Chief Executive Officer Lincoln Z. Cooper introduced the campaign and matched its objectives with President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, which places a high priority on roads, agriculture, the rule of law, education, sanitation, and tourism.

“We’re not merely starting a program. Cooper declared, “We are starting a movement, a national call to action to save our farmers and feed our country.”

With more than 52,500 active members spread across Liberia’s 15 counties under the “Rescue Farmers” banner, WFI-MAC is organized into strategic support categories. Through collaborations with local communities and signed MOUs for agricultural access, the cooperative works directly with vulnerable groups, such as women, young people, and farmers with low resources.

The event is expected to attract high-level dignitaries from government ministries, development partners, the diplomatic corps, and farming cooperatives from across the country. In order to obtain multi-sectoral support for the program, WFI-MAC has already started interacting with international development partners like the World Bank, European Union, United Nations agencies, and private agribusiness investors.

The 2025–2030, a Strategic Vision for Food Sovereignty is a initiative that is anchored in a Five-Year Agricultural Operations and Development Plan from 2025 to 2030, which outlines, boosting productivity through climate-smart agricultural technologies, providing access to quality seeds, tools, and fertilizers, expanding market access for local and regional trade, establishing agro-processing hubs in all 15 counties, supporting vulnerable farmers with healthcare, shelter, and microgrants and strengthening cooperative governance for accountability and sustainability.

In order to create a database of farmers and food insecurity that will inform focused interventions in both rural and urban regions, WFI-MAC will also lead Liberia’s first national agricultural data survey.

WFI-MAC’s Executive Board Chair Dr. John Wulu also spoke, restating the cooperative’s dedication to diversity.

“Too many of our farmers have been left out, underserved, ignored, and forgotten. This initiative is about reaching every village, every town, and every farmer, regardless of how remote. We will empower, rehabilitate, and support them,” Dr. Wulu emphasized.

He claimed that the objective of WFI-MAC is morally and spiritually underpinned by its guiding motto, “God is our Refuge and Strength.”

Beyond farming, Dr. Wulu added, the initiative is positioned to have an impact on national development through the following: the creation of jobs through agriculture-based industries and county-level factories; the export of excess produce to increase national revenue; the empowerment of women and youth through agricultural and business training; and improved partnerships with tribal communities and traditional leadership for long-term implementation.

By boosting domestic production of rice, cassava, vegetables, poultry, and fish, “Operation Feed the Nation, Liberia” seeks to significantly reduce the country’s present $200 million annual food import dependency.

As Liberia prepares for the formal launch on October 30, the eyes of the nation, and international partners, are fixed on this huge initiative. If successfully executed, WFI-MAC’s program could become a benchmark for agricultural revival and food sovereignty across West Africa.

The “Feed the Nation” campaign will run from October 30, 2025, through October 30, 2030, marking five years of committed action to transform Liberia’s agricultural landscape.
