TWO AMBULANCES AND OPERATIONAL VEHICLE TO MINISTRY OF HEALTH
Congo Town, Liberia – The Ministry of Health has received two ambulances and an operational vehicle from the World Health Organization in collaboration with the Government and People of Germany to support the operations of the Liberia Infectious Disease Unit. The donation is one of the many supports from WHO and the German Government in Liberia health sector.
The Ministry of Health established the Infectious Disease Unit to handle current and potential infectious diseases in Liberia as part of its health care delivery system. The unit will help treat potential infectious diseases, especially in rural Liberia.
Dr. Clement Peter, the W.H.O. Country Representative stated that the gift aims to support both the Unit and Liberia’s troubled healthcare system. He pledge the World Health Organization continue support to Liberia.
Dr. Jakob Haselhuber, the ambassador of Germany to Liberia, stated at the presentation that his government’s assistance in assisting Liberia in developing a robust health system includes goodwill. He noted that the German Government is interested in the wellbeing and good health of all Liberians. Amb. Haselhuber added that his government will continue to work with the Liberian government in providing quality health sector for the Liberia people.
Liberia Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah thanked WHO and the German government for the support to Liberia. She on behalf of the government and people of Liberia expressed joy for the ambulances and vehicle. Dr. Jallah added that the vehicles will be used for the intended purpose.
