“You Are Vital To Gov’t Operations” Cabinet Director Cautions Civil Servants.

Monrovia, Liberia – The Director General of the Cabinet, Nathaniel Kwabo, has highlighted the crucial role Cabinet Focal Persons (CFPs) play in guaranteeing efficient operations across all line ministries and agencies on the first day of a two-day workshop on Cabinet Documentation & Decision Support, with the theme, Strengthening Policy Implementation.

Cabinet Focal Persons are civil servants nominated by the heads of their respective entities to act as the primary liaison with the Cabinet Secretariat. They are essential in making sure that decisions, policy submissions, and follow-up measures are accurate, on time, and in line with national priorities.

The workshop focusses on three key areas to include, Policy Documentation and Quality Assurance – ensuring submissions to Cabinet meet established standards and are aligned with national priorities. Decision Tracking and Implementation – enhancing the ability of MACs to follow through on Cabinet decisions using the institutionalized frameworks and working alongside the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) and Inter-Ministerial Coordination – improving collaboration between institutions for coherent policy development and delivery.

Speaking at the start of a two-day workshop for chosen CFPs on Monday, September 1, 2025, Director Kwabo emphasized the value of their participation in institutional decision-making and implementation processes.

He asserted that this kind of involvement is critical to the government’s overall efficacy and performance. He also urged participants to use the information and abilities they had learned in the workshop to enhance Cabinet operations in respective agencies.

The Ministry of State, along with the Cabinet Secretariat, is organizing the training with the goal of improving coordination and collaboration amongst government agencies.

Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and information exchange, the training will increase CFPs’ ability to operate as trustworthy liaisons between the Office of the Cabinet and their respective institutions. The program also contributes to the government’s larger initiatives to improve accountability, governance, and results-oriented leadership.

Participants were drawn from key institutions including the Central Bank of Liberia, Civil Service Agency, General Services Agency, Governance Commission, Internal Audit Agency, and the Liberia Broadcasting System, among others.
