Monrovia, Liberia โ The Former Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Tamba Koijee has described the recent dismissal of nine MCC employees as counterproductive to addressing the unemployment crisis in Liberia. He called on those dismissed to seek refuge outside of Liberia.
The cornerstone of President Boakaiโs campaign commitment to rehabilitate Liberia by providing jobs and opportunities for the youth of the country, according to him, is undermined by the firing of Liberians.
The government of Monrovia City recently dismissed nine employees who are fervent supporters of the opposition CDC for allegedly defaming the president and other officials on social media.
However, in response to the firings, the former mayor of Monrovia City said on Facebook that the current mayorโs decision to fire nine employees seriously undermines the UPโs goals of creating jobs, promoting free expression, and demonstrating the lowering of critical voices.
The CDC administrator also hinted that dismissing innocent Liberians based only on their social media posts is a clear political target, directed not just at them but also at their spouses and kids. Using his tweet, the Liberian politician urged the sacked Liberians to apply for asylum outside of their country, emphasizing that going to court to seek redress will not be successful.
