2023 Presidential Election: Tight Race Between Weah and Boakai

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Elections Commission has revealed more results from 392 voting stations, 5,890 polling places nationwide on Tuesday, October 12, 2023, showing that opposition candidate Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party is still leading incumbent George Weah of the CDC.

With 57,862 votes, or 46.27% of the total counted, Ambassador Boakai is still leading as of the most recent update. With 49,510 votes, or 39.6% of the total votes cast so far, President Weah is in tight second place. The Liberian People Party’s (LPP) Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe is in third place with 4,483 votes, or 3.59% of the total.
