800 Homes Affected by Tuesdays Devastating Windstorm

NATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT AGENCY DATA REVEAL

Monrovia, Liberia – A destructive windstorm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, damaged 800 homes, according to Ansu Dulleh, executive director of the National Disaster Management Agency. He said the windstorm was coming from the west and was traveling between 36 and 40 mph.

It also had an impact on a few other important locations, including the headquarters of the Monrovia Consolidated School system (MCSS) and African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU).

The Disaster Management head stated that Grand Bassa, Bong, Margibi, Nimba, and Montserrado are among the counties affected by the incident during the regular press briefing held by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism in Monrovia.

He warns residents to be well-prepared as the rainy season draws near, pointing out that windstorms will have an impact on coastal regions.

Recently, the World Bank Group launched a report on the climate change which could affect Liberia including, the rainy season.
