92 Liberian Students Wins Chinese Scholarship.

Monrovia, Liberia – As part of China’s support to Liberia education sector, 92 Liberian students are off to China to study and present the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship to the University of Liberia, the Confucius Institute at the U.L.

Those who received the scholarship are students from the University of Liberia, the Confucius Institute at the U.L., Tubman University, Cuttington University, and Bomi Community College, covering 172 students among others.

Speaking on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the China Scholarship Reception dinner, Chinese Ambassador, Yin Chengwu said the China scholarship is intended to enhance exchanges and cooperation, to promote mutual understanding and friendship between China and Liberia.

It fully demonstrates China’s commitment to China-Liberia strategic partnership, and building a community with a shared future for humanity.

As one of the government key priyority in the ARREST Agenda, China will remain committed to strengthening education and human resources cooperation with Liberia, sharing knowledge, technology, and development experience in various forms.

“The Chinese Embassy has also supported the Liberian government’s education endeavors in many ways. We supported President Boakai’s “One Child, One Chair” Initiative, constructed schools in Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties, donated solar-powered classrooms to high schools in Grand Bassa County, provided supplies to the Monrovia Consolidated School System and the China-Liberia Friendship School, among other efforts,” said Ambassador Yin

“We are pleased to see that many returning Liberian students and trainees, some of whom are invited here today, have become pillars of society, playing critical roles across various sectors in Liberia,” he stated.

Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, China-Liberian strategic partnership is thriving. As both countries embark on a new journey toward modernization, the prospects for education cooperation between the two countries are vast, promising, and full of potential.

Ambassador Yin Chengwu however urge scholarship students to maintain an enduring thirst for knowledge and forging ahead relentlessly, nurturing ambitions and shouldering responsibility, and strengthening China-Liberia friendship and perpetuat our shared purpose.
