Liberia’s quest to begin playing competitive International soccer matches at home has taken a positive sharp as the installation of artificial turf at its national stadium is completed.
Liberia national stadium is among many other stadiums in Africa to have been banned by CAF from hosting International matches for failure to meet minimum current days stadium requirements.
Since the pronouncement was made, the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has come under huge criticism from the public.
However, the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the stewardship of Zeogar Wilson awarded a contract to a Dutch company Greenfield with the task to transform the SKD from its previous conditions.
Today, the SKD can now boost of bucket seats in red, white, and blue colors, artificial turf for the first time in the stadium history, anti dopping room, media tribunal, media center, medical clinic, improved players and match officials dressing rooms, VIP rooms among others.
According to the Youth and Sports Minister Dee-Zeogar Wilson, the installation of the bucket seats cost the government five hundred nineteen thousand United States dollars ( 519000USD)while the
Installation of artificial turf cost seven hundred and twenty-nine thousand five hundred United States dollars( 729500USD).
Minister Wilson added that one hundred and sixty-one thousand United States dollars were spent on other works at the stadium (161,000USD).
