Sinkor, Monrovia – The political leader of the Grassroots Development Movement, Edward W. Appleton,Jr., paid a courtesy visit to Unity Party accident victims at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia on Monday, November 27, 2023. In an interview with journalists at JFK, Appleton declared that his visit was non-political and that his goal was to connect with the victims of Monday, November 20, 2023.
He added that, as political leaders, it is essential to identify with people, especially in critical situations; he described his visit as an ordinary visit. The GDM Standard Bearer described the deaths and injuries of Unity Party partisans and supporters as a massacre and cautioned the government of Liberia through the Liberian National Police to speedily investigate the matter.
At the Unity Party Headquarters in central Monrovia, a recent tragic occurrence resulted in the deaths of three people and the injuries of twenty-two others. Following the announcement of the final results of the presidential runoff on November 14, hundreds of Unity Party supporters gathered at their party’s headquarters to celebrate the victory of the president-elect and vice president-elect, Amb. Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Jeremiah Kpan Koung.
The Grassroots Development Movement political leader at the same time donated food and non-food items to the accident victims, adding that it was his initial contribution.
