Assistant Sports Minister, James Toee says the national team consistent poor performances have de-motivated the citizen’s interest in the team.
According to him, the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is the regulator of the national team will work with the Liberia football association to explain the consistent poor performances of the team.
Minister Toee spoke to reports231 in Paynesville minutes following Liberia 2-1 defeated at the hands of Burundi in the Antaya Cup in Turkey on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
“For example, three friendlies defeats in a row without even drawing non is saddened which I think the LFA that handles the technical duties will have to look into it to see how we can address the issues”.
” Liberians anticipation for better results from the national team everytime they hear the name Lone Star, but the continues poor performances have raised serious concerned which I believed we have to address quickly to leave from this stage, Minister Toee said”.
Meanwhile, the Lone Star of Liberia under the guardian of Peter Butler has played 19 matches including regular qualifier matches and international matches.
They won five matches, drew one and lost 14; conceded 24 goals and scored just 11 goals.
Liberia lost three straight matches in a row to Benin, Sierra Leone and Burundi.
