Liberia Football Association Vice President for Operations, Wilmont Smith, is challenging the sports writers of Liberia to report on facts and do away with assumptions and blackmailing.
Wilmont said without the sports writers, the activities of the Liberia football association will not be told to the public, and as such, their writings should be based on facts.
The LFA Vice President for Operations made the disclosure on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Ordinary Congress of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia held at the SKD Sports Gymnasium in Paynesville City.
” Let’s disagree to agree through constructive writings and criticism based on facts. We can only strengthen this tie with the sports writers association. The LFA is opened to provide clarity on any issues to the media”.
“We are glad that you are having Congress after six years, I think this is a new beginning and we want to salute the leadership for making this possible”.
” To the larger extend we enjoy working with you and we have no doubt that going forward we can strengthen the tie with sports writers, VPO Smith conclude”.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia, Varma Amara Kamara said unethical reporting under mine the Journalism profession.
SWAL Vice President urged sports Journalists to desist from unethical reporting to avoid undermining the stand of Journalism.
” It is incumbent upon the leadership of the Sports Writing body to check mate those who involved. We have noticed these things; is an open secret. We will bring to book members of SWAL who are in constant habits of unethical reporting, Mr. Kamara said”.
