Liberia’s Amputees National Football team has returned to the country with a 2nd place trophy following a 3-2 defeat to Ghana Amputees Football team in the grand final of the 2021 Amputees African Cup of Nations in Tanzania. The delegation of 22 members arrived in the country at 20:00 local time via Robert International Airport. The tournament was staged in Dares Salam, Tanzania from November 27 to December 4, 2021. A Group of Nimba Citizens have petitioned the Legislature to reject the new Arcelor Mittal deal submitted to that august body by the Executive which calls for amendments to the Mineral Development Agreement. Gabriel Toh, the spokesman of the Nimba citizens in the petition submitted on Thursday wants the government to abandon the new deal and ensure the steel company live up to its MDA. The government of Liberia through its bi-centennial committee has officially launched activities leading to the celebration of Liberia 200 years which is expected to be held early next year. The Elections Coordinating Committee with funding from Irish Aid on Thursday launched a nine-month project which will promote an inclusive and peaceful democratic process in Liberia. The nine months project was launched under the theme “Promoting Inclusive and Peaceful Democracy” and it is funded by the government and people of Ireland.
