Boakai Receives New Countries Ambassadors

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – In a ceremonial ceremony held in the Cabinet Room of the Executive Mansion in Monrovia Tuesday and Wednesday October 21-22, 2025, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. accepted Letters of Credence from five recently accredited Ambassadors, demonstrating Liberia’s growing diplomatic presence.

The new envoys who presented their credentials included:

  • H.E. Guillermo Marín Gorbea, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain
  • H.E. Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • H.E. Mersole J. Mellejor, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines
  • H.E. Godwin Baletum Amonzem, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana
  • H.E. Mamadu Keta, Ambassador of the Republic of Mali
  • .H.E. Normal Ang Sanchez, Ambassador of the Republic of Mexico
  • . H.E. Berenice Owen-Jones, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia

During individual presentations, each Ambassador conveyed warm greetings from their respective Heads of State and expressed optimism about advancing cooperation with Liberia. The envoys highlighted their countries’ interest in strengthening ties across key sectors such as trade and investment, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and culture.

President Boakai warmly welcomed the diplomats and extended the appreciation of the Government and people of Liberia for the longstanding relations their countries share with Liberia. He described the ceremony as an important step in deepening global partnerships and reaffirmed his government’s desire to engage constructively with friendly nations in pursuit of mutual growth and stability.

The Liberian leader also presented the foreign policy goals of his administration, which include boosting economic diversification, attracting investment, and fostering sustainable development.

“Liberia is prepared to collaborate with your governments to advance peace, prosperity, and a more equitable global order,” President Boakai stated. “We embrace any collaboration that enhances the quality of life for our people, and we view diplomacy as a tool for advancement and collaboration rather than competition.”

He said a pillar of Liberia’s foreign policy is the country’s longstanding friendships with countries all over the world. Particularly in the fields of agriculture, roads, education, sanitation, and tourism, the President urged the Ambassadors to look into new areas of cooperation that fit with his administration’s ARREST Agenda.

With the presentation of credentials ceremony, the Ambassadors’ official duties in Liberia begin, ushering in a new era of collaboration between the Republic of Liberia and their respective governments.

Senior government officials, diplomatic corps members, and employees of the Executive Mansion and Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the separate sessions.
