Monrovia, Liberia – Following his stay away from Liberia, President Joseph N. Boakai has returned from Indonesia and China with what he terms as “development packages” for the rebuilding of the country. Speaking Wednesday, August 11, 2024 at the Intercessory and Thanksgiving Service at the Effort Baptist Church in Paynesville following his return from the Robert International Airport, Boakai disclosed the debt waiver of 6.6m by China, 13m loan for agriculture equipment and massive renovation and expansion of State Radio, ELBC to ensure that it effectively covers the entire Country.
Emphasizing the progress of the nation, President Boakai discussed the forthcoming building of the overhead bridge project from SKD boulevard to 540 and from 12 street to Barnersville junction.
President Boakai revealed a 60 million for the construction of an overhead bridge connecting the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town to the SKD boulevard accordingly. The Liberian president also highlighted the construction of a 75mega watts solar power plant in Bomi County and the implementation of the national grid line upgrading.
He said China committed to intervene in other important areas including road, energy, and infrastructure development among others. President Boakai, however, said that his government is prepared to create a new Liberia; he said that one such nation is under development.
“We await the responses from Indonesia and China for all these good promises.”
President Boakai also commended Liberians for their resilience over the years despite many challenging conditions. Mr. Boakai added that Liberia’s doors are open for development and honest people.
“Liberians are also hopeful of the practical implementation for the Country in the coming months and years ahead.”
President Boakai also said that Liberians should be hopeful for a better Liberia instead of panicking.
