Gbarnga, Bong County – The notorious Campala Ghetto, which has long been a refuge for underprivileged young people in the county known as “zogos,” has been set on fire by the Bong Detachment of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
The operation came after a number of youth organizations filed a petition with the theme “Say No To Drugs.” The community responded favorably to their message, “No More Campala and Drugs,” led the LDEA and local government officials to take immediate action.
Often referred to as Bong County’s most talked-about ghetto, Campala has long been linked to criminal activities and drug usage for years.
In the continuous attempts to reduce substance misuse and improve peace and reconciliation in the county, the demolition represents a critical milestone in the county.
