Chelsea set to make Williams Target top Priority

It is not surprising that Europe’s biggest teams are showing interest in Nico Williams, a winger for Athletic Club and Spain, as he is one of the most entertaining players in the league right now. Though they may need to act soon if they were to stand a chance of signing him, Barcelona had designated him as one of their top two targets for their left wing position.

Williams, 21, has a €58 million release clause. According to Gianluca di Marzio, the Blues have made the Basque winger their top priority after losing out on Michael Olise, who seems to have chosen to go to Bayern Munich instead.

Williams is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, who could provide Chelsea even more fierce financial competition. Athletic Club will not bargain over his release clause, therefore the team trying to sign him has to pay that sum in full up front.

Having recently signed a renewal, he has also stated this weekend that he is content at Athletic Club and doesn’t understand the ongoing inquiries regarding his future.
