Chief Arthur Dowah Takes over from Chief Zanzar Kawor

Monrovia, Liberia – Chief Arthur Dowah succeeded Chief Zanzar Kawor as the new corps of officials chosen by the National Council of Chiefs over the weekend. Chief Arthur Dowah’s leadership is anticipated to be crucial in promoting Liberia’s cultural heritage and promoting peace.

The 15-member Council elected Paramount Chief Arthur W. Dowah of Boinsen Chiefdom, KOKoya District, Bong County, as National Chairperson in Gompa, Nimba County. In attendance were county superintendents, other local government officials, the media, civic society organizations, and other notable figures from the 15 counties.

In September 2018, former President George Manneh Weah signed Chapter 3 of the Local Government Act of 2018, which was fulfilled by the election. A National Council of Chiefs was founded in lieu of the National Traditional Council, which was led by Chief Zarzar Karwor, as a result of the law.
