China’s Ambassador to Liberia Chengwu highlights China’s transformation over the past 76 years.

Monrovia, Liberia – H.E. Yin Chengwu, China’s ambassador to Liberia, expressed the significance of the country’s 76th anniversary of creation as well as its 80th anniversary of winning the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

He acknowledged the remembrance, emphasizing the sacrifices made during World War II and China’s changes over the last 76 years. According to him, the Chinese nation has achieved the great transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong; adding that rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is an unstoppable historical trend.

Ambassador Chengwu disclosed that China has made new achievements in its modernization drive; saying, in the first half of this year, China’s economy has continued to move forward with steady progress, the GDP grew by 5.3 percent year-on-year, exports increased by 7.2 percent, and the total value of imports and exports of goods exceeded 21 trillion RMB.  

He added that new quality productive forces were advancing vigorously, risks in key areas were effectively prevented and defused, consumer price and employment were generally stable, and the people’s wellbeing was further strengthened.  

The Chines Ambassador to Liberia said the Communist Party of China (CPC) launched a Party-wide education campaign to implement its central leadership’s “eight-point decision” on improving work conduct, fostering a sounder political ecosystem featuring honesty and integrity in China.

In addition to restating his government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, Ambassador Yin emphasized that China valued the mutual confidence between President Xi and Boakai. During the event, which also commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II, both leaders emphasized the need of multilateralism and the preservation of world peace as lessons from history.

With more than 100 Liberian students enrolling in Chinese colleges this year, he highlighted the increased educational exchanges, new infrastructure projects like the overpass bridges on Tubman Boulevard, and a 30% increase in trade as examples of the robust expansion in bilateral relations.
