Monrovia, Liberia – Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu recently met with Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, to promote bilateral trade and investment, reiterating both nations’ commitment to enhancing economic cooperation.

throughout the discussion, Ambassador Yin outlined the main conclusions of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Fourth Plenary Session, emphasizing China’s continued commitment to expanding high-standard opening-up throughout the forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period.

He underlined that emerging countries like Liberia will have more chances as a result of these policy directions. Amb. Yin clarified, “China is actively implementing its zero-tariff policy for African countries, a program designed to ease access to the vast Chinese market.”

He said that if Liberia’s companies make the most of the program by boosting export-oriented output, the country will gain a great deal. Additionally, the Chinese envoy urged the Liberian government to encourage local businesses to pursue new trade and economic opportunities with China.

The Chinese ambassador pointed out that this will directly improve the standard of living for regular Liberians in addition to boosting bilateral trade. He emphasized that China sees Liberia as a reliable partner and is still prepared to help it achieve its growth goals through market access, trade facilitation, and investment cooperation.

He noted that boosting Liberia’s export potential is consistent with China’s long-standing objective of promoting shared prosperity with African countries.

Minister Dagoseh, on her part, conveyed her sincere gratitude for China’s long-standing assistance in Liberia’s social and economic advancement. She commended China for continuing to be a reliable partner in trade facilitation, capacity building, and infrastructure development.

Nonetheless, Minister Dagoseh reiterated Liberia’s willingness to expand economic cooperation, emphasizing that her ministry will strive to establish the conditions required for more active engagement between Chinese and Liberian companies.

She emphasized that Liberia’s national development program places a high premium on increasing trade with China. The Minister claims that Liberia is eager to increase its export profile by looking into prospects in China’s sizable consumer market.

According to her, increasing value addition, raising industrial standards, and developing China’s manufacturing potential all depend on cooperation.

The Minister added that greater interaction between the two countries’ business communities will expand the government’s revenue base, create jobs, and encourage the expansion of the private sector. According to her, these results are essential for long-term national growth.
