Monrovia, Liberia – The Minister of Justice has received a Caviat from Senator Nathaniel Farlo McGill of Margibi County, who is also the Chairman of the CDC Legislative Caucus, alerting him to the government’s early errors in an attempt to keep it accountable.
At a news conference conducted at the CDC party headquarters on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the Chair of the CDC Legislative Caucus declared that the Boakai administration is acting improperly by detaining private individuals without a court warrant, which he claimed is illegal.
“The foundation of Liberia is the rule of law. Without a court order, it is unlawful for any individual or organization to size any private property; they also lack the right to confiscate any private property.”
The Margibi County lawmaker urges the international community to intervene, pointing out that CDCians are a peaceful people’s party that will rebuff any illegal actions.
We want the world to know that although CDCIANS are generally peaceful people, Boakai shouldn’t incite strife and instability (chaos) within the nation. We’ll keep our peace, but we’ll thwart any attempts to break the law by going around the legal system.
The head of the CDC Legislative Caucus, however, urged politicians to keep up the fight, saying that it is only getting started and that “God willing, in 2029, we will be back.”
Legislator for Nimba County, Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, said on his Facebook page that the government should form a commission to determine the assets that were lost prior to recovery.
“Don’t try to recoup assets quickly. Determine the lost assets first, then make it public. Request its back from anyone in possession, or face legal action. and start looking for the particular government assets that have been lost. Put an end to the absurdity of stopping law-abiding folks and requesting proof of ownership for their cars. Before it can begin the search for the lost assets, the government must first identify them. Guys, wake up; you have experience. Make use of it. Give up making fun of a procedure that has good intentions. And to those who own assets from the government: do give them back. You do not own it. Stupid group. What a never-ending loop of chaos,” Posting on his Facebook page, Musa Bility wrote.”
