Opposition Unity Party Standard Barrier and Chairman of the Collaborating Political Party Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed that he is commitment to resolving the current political mire within the CPP upon his return to Liberia.
Amb. Boakai , who is currently in the United States of America interacting with the leadership and members of the CPP and Liberians said, there are plans to meet with some officials of the US government to discuss issue of importance to Liberia. Speaking to the VOA on Monday the current CPP Chairman said, he is positive about seeking the nomination to head the CPP ticket. He however called for calm among partisans within the CPP.
The former vice president who served in the past Ellen Johnson government for 12 years is fighting his way through to become Liberia’s 26th president. But there are still circumstances surrounding him leading the CPP with the strong opposed view of his colleague Alexander Cummings who is also viewing the stander barriership of the CPP. The last 2017 presidential elections saw Amb. Boakai loosing to the President Weah CDC and Mr. Cummings ANC coming third.
Many believed that the CPP is the right party to outweigh the CDC with it experience in governance and high profile persons, but the fight in the CPP linking to other political parties in the CPP like the Liberty Party (LP), Liberians have started to doubt the essence of the CPP. Reports231 gathered that, some marketers down waterside, one of Liberia’s biggest market said, they will be willing for President Weah to stay then a new breed. “IT IS BETTER TO BE WITH THE DEVEL YOU KNOW THEN THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW”, Steve Allen noted.
