Deputy Speaker Fallah Calls for House Retreat

In an effort to Promote Peace and Reunification.

Monrovia, Liberia – A retreat for members and staff has been recommended by Thomas Fallah, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, as a way to resolve internal conflicts and foster unity before the 2025 legislative session.

The retreat, according to Fallah, is necessary for “mending broken wounds” and guaranteeing a coordinated approach to the forthcoming legislative responsibilities. As the House gets ready for heated discussions and legislative deliberations in the upcoming months, he said the meeting will offer a forum to set policies and objectives for 2025.

Fallah emphasized the need of having administrative and clerical personnel alongside lawmakers in a comprehensive proposal to the Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration’s leadership. He argued that addressing broader institutional concerns, rather than limiting discussions to legislative funding, would foster a more holistic approach to unity and efficiency.

“All branches of government frequently conduct retreats,” Fallah said. The main goal of a retreat is to get together, talk about problems, and decide how to proceed. There will always be difficulties, but what counts is our capacity to overcome them as a group.

It is hoped that the retreat would foster prospects for cooperation and reconciliation, the Deputy Speaker said. He pledged to help the Executive and Judiciary branches as well as their equivalents in municipal administration, emphasizing the value of transforming internal differences into group strengths.

Fallah urged lawmakers to put the interests of the country ahead of their own political or personal conflicts, saying, “We can turn our differences into strengths and pledge unwavering support to the other branches of government.” “All we have is Liberia. This is about prioritizing the interests of our nation, not about winning or losing.

Recognizing past conflicts in the House, Fallah urged his colleagues to embrace peacemaking and establish shared objectives for the good of the country. He praised the addition of a few members to the majority caucus and said he hoped more would join the next session.

“We owe our duty to the people we assist.” Let’s embark on this new adventure in 2025 with fresh resolve and intent,” Fallah said.
