Former India Honorary Council General to Liberia Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva commonly known in Liberia as Mr. Jeety today celebrated National Thankgiving and Diwaili with inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison (Salt Beach) in Montserrado County.
Speaking at the cook food distribution, Dr. Sachdeva noted that he believed that those inmates are like every other person who need care and love. He said it is prudent to visit the inmates and show them love, noting that such attitude will make them aware of being part of society. The former Council General noted that the inmates too deserve healthy meal.
It can be gather that Dr. Jeety on numerous occasions donated to the prison. The Honorable man provides cook meal for inmate at the prison two times every month. It can be recalled that Dr. Jeety during the heat of the COVID-19 in Liberia contributed more to the country through food distribution, anti-COVID materials, COVID-19 supplement and medication among others.
The humanitarian who has also distribute wheel chairs, walking sticks to the disable and fed over 3,000 less privilege (zongos) on the streets. Reports231 gather that Dr. Jeety continue to feed less Privilege Liberians with in the Vai Town Community for over seven years.
The day is in consonance with an Act of National Legislature enacted in 1883 declaring the First Thursday in the Month of November of each year as a National Thanksgiving Day. Diwali, or Dipawali, is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians.
