AS COSTA AND ALP POLITICAL PARTY PLEDGES SUPPOT TO CDC

Monrovia, Liberia – A failed senatorial candidate in the 2022 midterm elections, Edith Gongloe-Weh, has pledged support to the Coalition for Democratic Change, led by the sitting president, George Manneh Weah, ahead of the November 14, 2023, presidential runoff. Following careful consideration and evaluation of the platforms of both parties, the former superintendent of Nimba County Development stated that she has concluded that the CDC most closely aligns with the core values, principles, and objectives. According to her, she believes that the CDC’s commitment to national unity, social progress, economic development, and good governance strongly resonates with the vision of the Liberian people.

Gongloe-Weh is called on her supporters and all well-meaning citizens to support the CDC in the upcoming runoff election at a new conference on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in Monrovia. She noted that it is time for unity, collaboration, and a shared purpose as all work to build a better future for the country.

In a related development, President George Manneh Weah was again spotted with political pundit Henry Pedro Costa. It is recorded that in 2018, Weah and Costa fell out over Costa’s alleged demand for a large sum of money from President Weah in order to conduct his propaganda.

Mr. Costa previously supported Unity Party Standard Bearer Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai in the 2017 runoff and remained friends until March 2023, when they parted company for Boakai’s “refusal” to name Henry Costa as his running mate, thus prompting Costa to describe the 78-year-old former vice president as “ungrateful Sanamaswine.”

Costa, the leader of the June 7 demonstration against the CDC administration, succeeded in getting into the CDC. On Sunday, October 29, 2023, members of the executive committee and Benoni Urey, the political leader of the All Liberian Party, pledged support for the CDC candidate in the runoff election. The All Liberian Party and the UP continue to have a tense relationship, although it support to Weah 2023 campaign.
