Monrovia, Liberia – The Africa International Institute of Science and Technology (AIIST) University College graduated fifty-six members of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) and several paramilitary institutions on August 8, 2024.

Spencer Leeco, Deputy Minister for Operations at the Ministry of Defense, in her keynote address at the graduation program on behalf of Rtd. Brig. Gen. Geraldine Janet George, Minister of National Defense said; “We must think big and widen our imaginations as we go about the arduous task of nation building and the rebuilding of professional military and law enforcement agencies in our country.”

Minister Leeco exhorted everyone to follow their dreams and aspirations, noting that by doing so, both individually and collectively, they will create a nation with a respectable security reputation in which the current generation and those to come may take pride.

She advised the graduates to further their studies in information technology and computer literacy. “The important role technology plays in modern security cannot be overemphasized in this age of globalization.”

Among the speakers were representatives of the World Bank, UNESCO, UNDP, European Union, and International Development Law Organization (IDLO), as well as important government figures.
