Monrovia, Liberia – Atty. Kula Fofana, the Presidential Press Secretary for the Executive Mansion, disclosed that the Executive Protection Service’s (EPS) suggestion served as the basis for the acquisition of the two 2025 Lexus LX 700HR Super Ultar Luxury SUVs for the president.
Speaking at the Executive Mansion regular press briefing in Monrovia on Friday, April 4, 2025, Atty. Kula established that the president’s security service commended the purchase of new vehicles for the president’s safety because the former government had given the current government the old vehicles, causing the president’s convoy to break down frequently.
She claims that the previous administration’s vehicles were in poor condition and frequently caused President Joseph N. Boakai to feel embarrassed. Atty. Kula explained that when President Boakai returned from the National County Sports Meet opening last year, his car broke down on his way out of Grand Cape Mount County.
The Presidential Press Secretary of Liberia, however, refused to reveal the true cost of the two new cars, stating that the EPS is still in charge of all aspects pertaining to the purchase.
Atty. Kula, “I don’t know why people are complaining, because when President Boakai leaves office, he will turnover everything to the next administration. The cars are for the Presidency, not for President Boakai’s personal use.”
Recently, the Office of the Presidency was in the news lines of the media and social media influencers for the wrong reason amid broken promise as report emerged that President Boakai is now riding in a 2025 Lexus LX 700HR Super Ultra Luxury SUV.
