Monrovia, Liberia -With assistance from Go Team Liberia and the World Taekwondo Education Department, four martial arts instructors from Liberia have successfully finished a “Level-2” Kyorugi online coaching program. As a result, they are eligible to coach the Junior and Senior National Teams in international contests.
The goal of the program is to equip Liberian taekwondo instructors with current understanding of the sport’s skills.
The training comes following Liberia’s dismal showing in Ghana during the 2024 All African Games. The coaches from Liberia had no awareness of contemporary methods.
The first level of training began in April 2024. After passing the Level-1 exam, coaches had to study the regulations specifically for a month before attending the Level-2 training session and exam. Senior National Team Head Coach Master Thomas Wleh, Senior National Team Deputy Coach Master A. Cephas Weeks, Junior National Team Head Coach Master J. Henry Dee, and Junior National Team Deputy Coach Paul Dennis are the coaches who completed the level-2 training course.
