Ganta Support Group Prevails over Liberian Government at ECOWAS Court

OVER A LAND DISPUTE IN NIMBA COUNTY

Abuja, Nigeria – In the issue involving the disputed land in Nimba County, the Ganta Support Group prevailed over the Government of Liberia, according to the decision of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Liberian government was consequently ordered by the court to give back the lands to the right landowners within six (6) months starting on June 19, 2023.

Following the judgement, the legal team of the Ganta Support Group, led by Cllr. Daouda Keita, said the court’s decision was reached after the exchange of legal papers and the availability of all relevant evidence.

On May 8, 2018, the Ganta Support Group, Inc. and Sekou A. Sanoe brought the complaint before the ECOWAS Court, claiming to be speaking on behalf of the heads of 823 Mandingo families who had been forcibly uprooted and persecuted in Nimba county.
