In order to enable the operation for the implementation of development and technical service in the nation, France and Liberia have signed an agreement for the establishment of the French Development Agency.
Samuel Tweah, on behalf of the Liberian government, signed the deal, which is estimated to be worth ten million US dollars. Michael Roux, the French ambassador, Christopher Cotter, the France Development Agency, and Alexander Foulon, Expertise France, signed on behalf of the French government.
Finance Minister Samuel Tweah commended the French government for helping the Liberian government and people in a statement shortly after the signing ceremony. He claims that the finance arrangement and scholarship program that Liberia and France inked is worth ten million US dollars.
According to Minister Twaeh, this takes France’s help to Liberia 50 million US dollars. “We expect that France continues to enhance its assistance, especially with the cordial connection existing between Presidents George Weah and Emmanuel Marcon.”
For his part, Michael Roux, the French ambassador to Liberia, promised the Liberian government of France’s sustained support for the growth of the nation’s human resources. He claims that 20 Liberian students are already receiving scholarships from this program at the Houphouet Boigny Institute of National Polytechnic in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire.
Ange-Pascal Kouassi, a Proparco representative, said in addition that the deal will help improve financial assistance in the form of micro-loans to financing groups in Liberia.
Christopher Cottet, Country Director of the French Development Agency, and Alexander Foulon, Coordinator of Expertise France, also provided statements of support and reassurance and indicated their willingness to collaborate with the Liberian government to ensure the success of the agreement.
Legerhood Rene, Liberia Information Minister, Dee Delance, President of the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment, and Augustus Flomo, Deputy Finance Minister for Debt Management, among others, attended the presentation.
