GoL repatriates seven Liberians trafficked to Myanmar.

Monrovia, Liberia – Seven Liberians who were trafficked to Myanmar via Bangkok, Thailand, have been safely returned by the Liberian government with the aid of the International Organization of Migration. Over the weekend, individuals returned home safely aboard an Ethiopian airline at Roberts International Airport in Harbel, Margibi County.

On behalf of Foreign Minister Affairs Sara Nyanti Beslow, Rosetta Nagbe-Jackollie, the Assistant Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, formally welcomed the repartees to Liberia at a brief welcoming ceremony.

In cooperation with Liberia’s diplomatic office in China, she conveyed her appreciation to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for their vital role in enabling the procedure.

On behalf of the LRRRC, Joseph Boye Cooper, the Deputy Executive Director for Operations of the Liberia Refugee, Repatriation and Resettlement Commission, welcomed the Liberians home and thanked the International Organization for Migration for helping to ensure the safe return of these individuals of concern.

He reassured the returning Liberians that the LRRRC will continue to help Persons of Concern as they reintegrated into their communities and urged them to feel at home.
