Monrovia, Liberia – Ibrahim Kalil Sheriff, a Guinea mercenary who was briefly detained, has been described as a threat to regional and national peace by a political pressure organization, “Green Revolution of Liberia.”
During a news conference held in Monrovia on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, GRL National Chairperson Marja Varney G. Kromah also urged the Liberian government to look into the treasonous behavior of former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh.
Kromah said the short stay of the mercenary in the country posed a great threat to Liberia’s peace.
He claimed that the defense attorney for the Guinean national, former Associate Justice Kabinch Ja’neh, has taken to the airways to accuse the government of killing the defendant who was detained and has endangered the lives of the Inspector General of Police and the Solicitor General by claiming falsely that they ordered the defendant’s death.
“The statute has the potential to strain or break diplomatic ties between the two nations, but regrettably, former Associate Justice Janneh and his team are determined to escalate this crisis through questionable means. This conduct should be deemed treasonous if it turns out to be genuine, and former Justice Ja’neh has to be called in for interrogation. We demand that former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh be arrested and charged with treason for such actions by the Liberian government immediately.”
The chairman of the pressure group also disclosed that they have learned that former Associate Justice Ja’neh is furious over the detention of his brother, a Guinean native, who was also detained by that government for supposed treasonous activities since he was in collusion during the conflict.
‘’More besides, the Guinean Government has accused the Liberian Government of harboring a traitor who has been categorized as a threat to that country’s peace and stability, and that Liberia’s protection of such traitor is deemed dangerous. Moreover, the Guinean Government has accused the Liberian Government of invasion which is even more dangerous. This is the reason why the Government of Liberia has been treading legally, but expediently to resolve this case,” Kromah said.
