Monrovia, Liberia – The Joint Presidential Transition Team (JPTT) Steering Committee members have announced the location of the inauguration on January 22, 2024. According to reporters on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in Monrovia, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, the Dean of the Cabinet and Co-Chair of the departing Transitional Team, stated that the government had received a request for use of the Capitol Building from the incoming administration.

“We received a request from the incoming administration that His Excellency Amb. Joseph N. Boakai, Sr., and Vice President-Elect Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, along with the incoming administration, have resolved to propose to the incumbent administration that the inauguration venue be at the Capitol Building.”

According to Minister Kemayah, the CDC administration received the notification in good faith. However, a follow-up response would be made after consulting with Liberian President George Weah. He continued that the combined inaugural committee would give a detailed budget for the event, which will cover all preparatory operations such as combining invites and guest counts, among other things.

He revealed the start of the ‘JPTT’ cleaning-up campaign, which aims to intensify the ongoing cleaning-up efforts in the nation and the city. He insisted that as time gets closer to the inauguration, the Transition Team will keep the public informed.

Samuel Kofi Woods, for his part, characterised the discussion as productive and reiterated his team’s commitment to a seamless handover. He used the occasion to inform the public that the ‘JPTT’ members are working in the interest of the country and it’s people and do not need compensation. He added that the team will work without requesting payment, saying, Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia.
