Capitol Hill, Monrovia – the Minister of Justice Cllr. Frank Musa Dean has pledged for mercy before the Supreme Court full Bench. On Tuesday, June 20, 23, the Justice Minister appeared before the Supreme Court and begs for mercy and apologized for his recent statement against the judiciary that led to his Contempt charge along with the information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie.
Minister Dean said it was not their intent to bring the court and the judiciary bench to public ridicule. Following the not-guilty verdict in favor of the four defendants in the US $100 million cocaine case, the Justice and Information Ministers were both scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court’s full bench to provide justification as to why they should not be held in contempt.
Minister Dean asserts that his statement was merely meant to draw attention to the fact that the jury in the US $100 million Cocaine case found the defendants not guilty, stressing that he was urging the legislature to create laws to improve the jury system.
On June June 6,2023, the high court fined the Minister of Information Ledgerhood Rennie and the Solicitor General designate Nyanti Tuan US$500 each for failure to appear before them after they were General-designate.
